The National Men’s Futsal Team was honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister
On the afternoon of February 16 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Prime Minister’s Commendation Ceremony took place for the National Men’s Futsal Team and individuals with excellent achievements at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021.

In the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the General Department of Physical Training and Sports, there were Ms. Le Thi Hoang Yen – Deputy Director; on the side of National Sports Center II, there was Mr. Vo Quoc Thang – Director of the Center; On the side of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, there were Mr. Mai Ba Hung – Deputy Director; On behalf of VFF, there were Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – Acting President, Mr. Cao Van Chong – Vice President, Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Permanent member of the Executive Committee, Head of the VFF’s Futsal Committee, Head of the National Men’s Futsal Team delegation , Mr. Le Hoai Anh – General Secretary; futsal men’s national team’s coaching assistants and the players who participated in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021. The ceremony also had the presence of representatives of leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Football Association, the Ho Chi Minh City Sports Center, and representatives of press agencies and media.
Speaking on behalf of the team at the ceremony, Head of Delegation Tran Anh Tu shared: “During the gathering, moving as well as completing related procedures, the national futsal team has received support from ministries and agencies. In particular, the Vietnam Football Federation has provided maximum support in the preparation of two play-off matches in the Asian region with the Lebanese futsal team, and a very good training camp in Spain. The training here determines the expertise of the whole team, helping the team perform well and reach the quarterfinals at the 2021 Futsal World Cup.”
At the ceremony, Acting President of VFF – Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said: “In order to have great achievements at the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021, VFF has made calculations and set clear roadmaps for the two play-offs as well as a training camp in Spain. It should be emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand futsal are the pride of Southeast Asia when having the tickets to participate in the World Cup and shine in this prestigious arena. We just lost to the defending runner-up team in the world. In just a short time, Vietnamese football continuously received joy and brought new excitement to the fans. VFF commits to having a long-term strategy for futsal teams and football teams to develop and reach further”.
At the FIFA futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021, the national futsal team not only got through the group stage with 4 points, outperforming what was shown at the 2016 FIFA futsal World Cup finals (only won 3 points), but also won the hearts of fans with unyielding competitive spirit and dedicated efforts, especially the brave and confident match against the reigning runner-up of the Russian futsal team.
With excellent performance at the FIFA futsal World Cup 2021, the national futsal team was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. In addition, head coach Pham Minh Giang, captain Tran Van Vu and goalkeeper Ho Van Y – important factors in the team’s success – were also honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.
