U20 Vietnam has their first practice match in Japan
On the afternoon of 25th August, U20 Vietnam had the first training match during the camp in Japan to prepare for the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifier.
The opponent for U20 Vietnam in this practice match was the youth team of Ehime FC from J.League 2. Aimed at evaluating the results of their recent training, coach Hứa Hiền Vinh provided opportunities for most players to participate in the game. Through this match, he also tested the players’ adaptability to tactical changes and their flexibility in transitioning between defense and attack.
U20 Vietnam defeated Ehime’s youth team with a score of 4-0, with goals scored by Hoàng Khanh, Thắng Long, Hữu Tuấn, and Minh Tâm.
According to the plan, U20 Vietnam will have two more practice matches, facing Imabari FC on August 28 and Matsuyama University on August 30.
On September 1, the U20 team will return to Vietnam to continue their final preparations before competing in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers. During this period, the team is expected to play two internal matches against the U20 Russia in Hanoi.
The AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 qualifiers will feature 45 teams, divided into 5 groups of 5 teams and 5 groups of 4 teams. The top 10 teams from each group, along with the 5 best second-placed teams, will qualify for the final round along with the host nation, China. In this qualifying round, Vietnam’s U20 team is in Group A, along with Syria, Bhutan, Guam, and Bangladesh. The matches in Group A will be hosted by Vietnam and will take place at Lạch Tray Stadium in Hai Phong from September 21 to September 29, 2024.
