U20 Vietnam plans to play a friendly match with U20 Saudi Arabia before the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup
The U20 Vietnam will have a friendly match with the U20 Saudi Arabia during a training camp in Dubai before attending the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup. This is the result of a discussion between the President of the Vietnam Football Federation Tran Quoc Tuan and the President Yasser bin Hassan Al-Misehal – during a Congress in Siem Reap (Cambodia), on the occasion of the AFF Ordinary Congress 2022.

At the meeting with the President and General Secretary of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, President Tran Quoc Tuan thanked the Saudi Arabian Football Federation for the active support for Vietnamese football in recent years. President Tran Quoc Tuan highly appreciated the new developments in the cooperation relationship between VFF and SAFF, especially the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in football development in many fields was signed in September 2021 between two federation and is being implemented very effectively.
Saudi Arabia Football Federation President Yasser bin Hassan Al-Misehal congratulated Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan on his election as President of the Vietnam Football Federation with the absolute trust of the 9th VFF Congress, term 2022-2026. Mr. Yasser bin Hassan Al -Misehal believes that Vietnamese football will continue to achieve new success in the coming period.
The two Presidents agreed that they will continue to strengthen coordination to create favorable conditions for the teams of Vietnam and Saudi Arabia to participate in Asian tournaments, especially the youth teams. In the immediate future, in order to help U20 Vietnam and U20 Saudi Arabia have the best preparation for the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup which will take place in Uzbekistan from March 1 to March 18, 2023, President Tran Quoc Tuan and the President Yasser bin Hassan Al-Misehal approved the policy of organizing a friendly match between the two teams during the training period in Dubai (UAE), at the same time assigned the General Secretary of the two federations to carry out follow-up work to ensure the best preparation plan for the two teams.
According to the plan, after finishing the period of concentration and training in the country, the U20 Vietnam will depart for training in Dubai (UAE) at the end of February 2023. This is also the final training phase of the team. After the training session and friendly match in Dubai, the team will move directly to Uzbekistan to attend the 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup.
The 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup will take place from March 1 to March 18, 2023. U20 Vietnam is in Group B along with Qatar, Australia and Iran. Meanwhile, U20 Saudi Arabia is in Group D along with Japan, China and Kygryzstan.
