VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan encourages U20 Vietnam to confidently face strong opponents
On the afternoon of February 14, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan had a meeting and encouraged the U20 Vietnam before the team left for training in the UAE and Saudi Arabia to complete the final preparation for the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup. Also attending were VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi.
This is the second time within two weeks the leaders of VFF directly met and encouraged U20 Vietnam. This has shown the close attention of VFF leaders to the preparation of the U20 Vietnam in particular and to young players in general, towards a big goal in the continental arena.
At the meeting, head coach Hoang Anh Tuan represented the coaching staff to report to VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan about the training results of the U20 Vietnam in the past two weeks. Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan said that although there were certain difficulties in training when he could not get the best force because many players were busy for the host club playing in the V.League, but the whole team made great effort to fulfill the requirements. “The upcoming training and friendly matches in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are very important for the team before officially entering the 2023 AFC U-20 Asian Cup. Coaching staff is happy to always receive the attention and timely motivation of VFF leaders as well as the support of clubs when creating conditions for players to join the team. The continental arena is very challenging, the opponents in the same group are also very strong, but through the discussion with the players, the common spirit is that we will set the determination to try our best, first to be able to play at least 4 matches in the tournament, then aim for a higher goal, “said coach Hoang Anh Tuan.
On behalf of VFF leaders, President Tran Quoc Tuan praised the team’s training spirit and seriousness in preparation. Identifying the generation of U20 players that play an important role in building the next class for the national team, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan spends a lot of time sharing with the players inspirational stories through successful of seniors in the national team, most of which are mature faces from the U20 Vietnam team to attend the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized the confidence and professionalism that each player needs to have if he wants to develop his playing career and contribute to the national team’s color. “The U16 juniors have won many strong Asian teams, the former U19s and the later U23s have also defeated the top teams in the continent, so why not you now? confident in your abilities? The federation has invested a lot in the team during this gathering with a training trip and playing with quality opponents in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the purpose is also to help the team have the best preparation for the U20 Asian Cup. Hopefully, under the guidance of head coach Hoang Anh Tuan, who has created a history when he and U19 Vietnam excellently won tickets to the U20 World Cup in 2017, the whole team will have a good performance at the important tournament and complete the set goals”, said VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan.
According to the plan, u20 Vietnam will take a flight to the UAE, taking off at 1:05 am on February 15. After that, the team will transit from Dubai to Saudi Arabia to practice and prepare for a friendly match with U20 Saudi Arabia on February 18.
At the end of this match, coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s team will move back to the UAE to continue training and prepare for the next friendly match, against Dubai FC on February 23. The team will stay to practice in the UAE until February 26 and will depart for Uzbekistan to attend the 2023 AFC U20 Championship, which will take place from March 1 to March 18.
At the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup, U20 Vietnam is in Group B with U20 Iran, U20 Australia and U20 Qatar . The venue of U20 Vietnam will be Istiqlol stadium in Fergana city, Uzbekistan.
