Attending the meeting with President Tran Quoc Tuan were also Vice President Nguyen Trung Kien and a representative of the national team department of the Vietnam Football Federation. On the side of the U20 national team, there was the presence of coach Hoang Anh Tuan, the coaching staffs and players.
On behalf of the VFF Standing Committee, President Tran Quoc Tuan sent New Year wishes, good health and success to all members of the U20 team. “On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation are very pleased to welcome the members of the U20 Vietnam team to gather at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with new facilities that have just been completed. The first task of the whole team in 2023 is very important to conquering new goals at the upcoming 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup. With our responsibility, VFF is trying to create the best conditions for the team, including a training camp to the UAE with quality friendly matches. VFF hopes that the young players will try their best, maximize their capacity to practice and achieve the best possible results, improve their physical strength, prepare well professionally, together with the coaching staff and head coach Hoang Anh Tuan as well as fitness experts, entered the competition with a high spirit of determination, achieving the results as expected of the fans,” emphasized President Tran Quoc Tuan.
Before the training session, in an interview with the press, head coach Hoang Anh Tuan generally assessed that the players had done very well in the past time: “It was a small regret that during the training period at PVF, before the Lunar New Year, a number of friendly matches did not take place as planned, only a friendly match against the Hanoi Police team (won 1-0). The main purpose of this training was also achieved when the players have adapted, personally I am still satisfied with the testing as well as some new schemes for the players to promote their abilities because in the upcoming competition, we will meet very strong opponents like Iran, Australia or Qatar.”
In the first gathering in 2023, preparing for the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup which will take place in early March 2023 in Uzbekistan, the U20 Vietnam team will spend 2 weeks stationed at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, from January 27 to February 15 and played a number of friendly matches. In particular, at this gathering, the team were the first members to use the new facilities of the athletes’ dormitory after being completely upgraded at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
According to the plan, after the first two days of training (January 28 & 29) at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the U20 players will be given a general health check on January 30 at the Sports Hospital before continuing the new training period, towards the important task in 2023.
