Vietnam Futsal National Team step up training ahead of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026
The Vietnam futsal national team has entered a crucial phase of preparations at the Chanh Hung Ward Futsal Arena in Ho Chi Minh City, gearing up for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026. In addition to high-intensity technical training sessions, head coach Diego Giustozzi and his players will play two international friendly matches against the Afghanistan futsal national team as they look to fine-tune the squad and playing style before departing for Indonesia.
In recent days, training sessions have been conducted at high intensity, focusing on building physical fitness, reinforcing technical and tactical aspects, and enhancing cohesion in playing style, with the aim of bringing the entire team to optimal readiness ahead of the continent’s major tournament.
The coaching staff have placed particular emphasis on organizing team play, improving transitional phases, and increasing efficiency in set-piece situations. At the same time, players are required to maintain a high level of concentration, tactical discipline, and a positive competitive spirit, treating each training session as an important step toward the goals ahead.
Under the plan arranged by the Vietnam Football Federation, the Vietnam futsal national team will play two international friendly matches against the Afghanistan futsal national team, scheduled for January 19 and January 21, 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City. These matches are regarded as meaningful “tests,” enabling the coaching staff to review the squad, assess each player’s form, and experiment with different tactical options under international match conditions.
Following this series of friendly matches, the Vietnam futsal national team will depart for Indonesia on January 27, 2026 to officially take part in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026. At the tournament, Vietnam are drawn in Group B alongside strong opponents, including the reigning Asian runners-up Thailand, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
