On the afternoon of September 24, the Vietnam U18 selection played their final Group A match at the 2025 Seoul Eou Cup international youth tournament against Zhejiang U18 (China). Determined to close their campaign with a victory, Coach Yutaka Ikeuchi’s players put on a brilliant performance and defeated their opponents with an emphatic 4-0 scoreline.

Right from the opening whistle, the Vietnam U18 selection pressed forward aggressively. The heavy pressure forced a mistake from the Zhejiang goalkeeper, whose weak clearance allowed a quick move down the left flank, where Nguyễn Thiên Phú rose high to head home and open the scoring. Conceding early pushed Zhejiang U18 to raise their attacking line, but this only gave Vietnam more space to exploit on the counter. In the 23rd minute, another poor clearance was intercepted in midfield, and the red-shirted players combined smoothly before Đậu Hồng Phong finished to double the lead to 2-0.

While Zhejiang U18 focused heavily on set-piece situations, the Vietnam U18 selection’s defense stayed disciplined and dealt effectively with aerial threats. In the second half, the pressure continued, and in the 63rd minute, a poor clearance from a Zhejiang defender put Lê Phát through on goal. The young striker made no mistake, extending the lead to 3-0. Before the final whistle, in the 82nd minute, Lê Phát’s strike rattled the crossbar, but Nguyễn Thành Long was quick to pounce on the rebound, sealing a 4-0 victory for the Vietnam U18 selection.

This result saw the Vietnam U18 selection finish the tournament with 3 points from 3 matches, scoring 5 goals and conceding 6, thereby placing third in Group A. Meanwhile, Zhejiang U18 collected just 1 point and finished at the bottom of the group.

Tomorrow (September 25), the whole team will return to Vietnam. The experiences and international exposure gained at the 2025 Seoul Eou Cup are expected to serve as valuable preparation for the young players as they continue to grow and gear up for upcoming official tournaments.
