Vietnamese Referees appointed to officiate at Multiple International Tournaments
Vietnamese referees and assistant referees continue to earn the trust of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), receiving appointments to officiate at several major international competitions in the coming period, notably the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027.
Ha Thi Phuong appointed for AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027
Assistant referee Ha Thi Phuong has been appointed by the AFC to officiate at the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027, which will take place from 1 January to 6 February 2027. She is currently the only Vietnamese female assistant referee appointed to officiate at Asia’s premier men’s national team competition. She recently officiated at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Vietnamese Referees Appointed for Continental Competitions
For the group stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League 2026/27, referee Bui Thi Thu Trang has been assigned to Group A in Yangon, Myanmar, while assistant referees Ha Thi Phuong and Le Thi Ly will officiate in Group C in Qarshi, Uzbekistan. The appointments will run from 29 October to 8 November 2026.
At the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, four Vietnamese refereeing officials have been appointed by the AFC to officiate in two groups. Referee Nguyen Nhut Quang and assistant referee Nguyen Trung Hau will officiate in Group F in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, while referee Tran Huy Hoang and assistant referee Pham Hoai Tam have been assigned to Group G in Salalah, Oman. Their appointments will run from 5 to 21 November 2026.
Notably, referees Nguyen Nhut Quang and Tran Huy Hoang are currently participants in the sixth edition of the AFC Referee Academy. Their appointments for the qualifying round provide an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities in competitive matches as they work towards joining the AFC’s elite refereeing panel in 2027.
Three Vietnamese Officials Appointed for the Tecno South Asian Football Championship 2026
At the Tecno South Asian Football Championship 2026, to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 5 to 17 November 2026, Vietnam will have three representatives appointed to officiate: referee Ngo Duy Lan, referee Le Vu Linh and assistant referee Nguyen Lam Minh Dang. Among them, Ngo Duy Lan holds both FIFA and AFC referee status, while Le Vu Linh and Nguyen Lam Minh Dang are FIFA referees.
Vietnamese FIFA Futsal Referee Appointed for International Friendly Matches
In futsal, Vietnamese FIFA futsal referees Thi Ly Hoang Ha and Huynh Nguyen Thanh have been appointed to officiate friendly matches between the Cambodia and Brunei Darussalam national futsal teams. The appointments will take place in Cambodia from 6 to 14 November 2026.
The continued trust placed in Vietnamese officials by the AFC and international football federations is not only a source of pride but also an opportunity for Vietnamese referees and assistant referees to gain valuable experience, enhance their professional expertise and meet the increasingly demanding standards of international competitions.
