Coach Okiyama Masahiko: “The match between the Vietnam and Thailand U17 women’s teams will further tighten the bond between the two countries”
At 3:00 PM on April 3rd, an international friendly match will take place at the People’s Police Academy Stadium between the Vietnam U17 women’s team and the Thailand U17 women’s team. The head coaches of both teams made their remarks at a press conference before the match, which was held on the morning of April 2nd at the Vietnam Football Federation.
As the host team, Coach Okiyama Masahiko of the Vietnam U17 women’s team expressed the following to the media: “I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy to some Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand, that have been affected by the recent earthquake. I pray for everyone’s safety. Additionally, the match between the Vietnam U17 women’s team and the Thailand U17 women’s team is also an opportunity to strengthen the football relationship between our two countries, Thailand and Vietnam.”
“I have been in Vietnam for only one month. Although I have not been with the team for long, through our training sessions, I can initially assess that the players have basic technical skills, are serious in their approach, and have their own strengths. The match against the Thailand U17 women’s team will be an important learning experience for the young players of the Vietnam U17 women’s team. Based on the data from this match, the team will analyze and develop a training plan to prepare for the upcoming U17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. As for the match against the Thailand U17 women’s team, our goal is to secure a victory,” said Coach Okiyama Masahiko.
Female player Hoàng Thị Giang of the Vietnam U17 women’s team shared that the entire team is very excited about tomorrow’s match. The Vietnam U17 women’s players are young and have not had the opportunity to compete against the Thailand U17 women’s team before, so they are unsure of how strong or weak the opponents are. “The whole team will give our best, with the goal of winning,” said player Hoàng Thị Giang.
Thailand U17 women’s team head coach Thidarat Wiwasukhu shared: “The Thailand U17 women’s team lacks experience. This is an opportunity for both us and Vietnam to develop and open the door for future friendly matches or international tournaments. Over the past period, the team has been consistently active according to our schedule, including matches held in Thailand. During the earthquake, we were not significantly affected. For me, the match against the Vietnam U17 women’s team will further strengthen the bond between the sports communities of our two countries. We will definitely play fair and with the spirit of sportsmanship in our match against Vietnam.”
“President of the Football Association of Thailand, Madam Pang, has continuously encouraged the team’s morale. While there is no prize money yet, we will receive words of encouragement and a gift from her after the match. Madam Pang is truly the center of the spirit of Thai football,” Thidarat Wiwasukhu added.
Lastly, player Aunchidtha Homtago shared: “During our recent training, we also had concerns for the people of Thailand because after the earthquake, there were still aftershocks. We want to send our support and encouragement to the people of our country.”
The match will take place at 3:00 PM at the People’s Police Academy Stadium and will be livestreamed on the VFF Channel YouTube channel.
