Vietnam women’s national under-20 football team Train in China in Preparation for the 2026 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Finals
The Vietnam women’s national under-20 football team arrived in Kunming, China on March 8 to begin an important training camp in preparation for the 2026 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Finals.
According to the coaching staff, the weather conditions in Kunming are currently colder than in Hanoi, with temperatures ranging around 17–18°C. However, the team’s living and training conditions are favorable, from the training facilities and accommodation to the catering arrangements, providing a good environment for the players to maintain their preparation for the tournament.
During the training camp in Kunming, the Vietnam women’s national under-20 football team will play three friendly matches to assess the squad and refine their playing style. The team is scheduled to face a Beijing women’s club on March 10, Hwacheon KSPO Women’s Football Club from South Korea on March 12, and a Guangxi women’s club from China on March 14. At the end of the training camp, the team will return to Vietnam on March 15 and relocate their base to Ho Chi Minh City to continue the final stage of preparation before departing for the tournament. During the final two weeks of preparation, the team led by head coach Okiyama Masahiko is expected to play two additional quality friendlies against the Uzbekistan women’s national under-20 football team on March 24 and March 27.
On March 29, the Vietnam women’s national under-20 football team will depart for Bangkok, Thailand to participate in the 2026 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup.
At this year’s tournament, Vietnam U20 women are drawn in Group A alongside China women’s national under-20 football team, hosts Thailand women’s national under-20 football team and Bangladesh women’s national under-20 football team. According to the schedule, the team coached by Okiyama Masahiko will face China on April 1, Thailand on April 4 and Bangladesh on April 7. These matches are considered important challenges for Vietnam U20 women in their quest to compete for a place in the knockout stage of Asia’s premier U20 women’s tournament.
