Head coach Park Hang-seo: “The secret to becoming the champion of SEA Games 30 is the Vietnamese spirit”

Head coach Park Hang-seo could not hide the happiness when U22 Vietnam won the gold medal of SEA Games after 60 years of waiting. He said that the secret to making U22 Vietnam successful is the spirit of Vietnam.

“First I would like to spend this victory for Vietnamese who love Vietnam’s football, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and the clubs. Indeed, I also want to spend this success not only for the players but also for the coaching assistant and the officers who always devoted to the team”, head coach Park Hang-seo shared after guided U22 Vietnam won SEA Games 30.

U22 Vietnam had the impression victory 3-0 to become the No.1 at the biggest sports festival in South East Asia. However, after winning, the head coach thinks about the injuries of the players: “I’m thinking about the players. Quang Hai, Trong Hung, and Thanh Thinh had the injuries. I was surprised that the team has overcome the difficulties and won the games”. Head coach Park Hang-seo said.

Head coach Park Hang-seo also share that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc encouraged him a lot before the final. “Before we went to the stadium, in the meeting, we transferred the messenger of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the player. The Prime Minister said that behind the team is the millions of supporters who were supporting and waiting for the success of the team. Luckily, today, we won”.

When asked about the secret to helping U22 Vietnam success in this tournament, Mr.Park affirmed: “That is the Vietnamese spirit”.

Head coach Park Hang-seo did not forget to thank the predecessors who contributed the foundation of Vietnam’s football. “When I received the responsibility to guide the Vietnam National Team, I had a dream to become the champion of South East Asia as well as SEA Games. This is a 60-years-dream ours. Indeed, this victory is the effort of the predecessors who have dedicated to building Vietnamese football. After this tournament, the team still has many works to do. We will go to Korea to prepare for the U23 AFC Championship in next year”.
