Head coach Park Hang Seo: “U20 Korea is a very good opponent for Vietnam U23 to practice”
At 19:00 on April 19, U23 Vietnam will play against U20 Korea at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho. This is also one of two friendly matches between U23 Vietnam and U20 Korea on April 19 and 22. Speaking at the press conference before the match, head coach Park Hang Seo affirmed that the U20 Korea is a quality opponent with professional players for U23 Vietnam to practice and prepare for the upcoming tournaments.
Head coach Park Hang Seo said: “The match against U20 Korea is an opportunity for me and the coaching assistants to test some new players. Before that, we still did not have the opportunity to test their level. In addition, there are two players who did not play against U20 Korea, Nguyen Thanh Binh (Viettel) and Bui Hoang Viet Anh (Hanoi FC). However, they didn’t have any serious injuries.”
Assessing the Korean U20 opponent, head coach Park Hang Seo said: “Korea is quite different from Vietnam, especially community football. Korea has many players from school football. The U20 Korea is such a typical example. But I would like to emphasize that in addition, they also have professional players. U20 Korea is also younger than us. They are good opponents. Besides that, at this period, it is not easy to find international opponents, so Korea U20 is a very good team for U23 Vietnam to play against.
Many people are concerned about the attacking power of U23 Vietnam. Head coach Park Hang Seo shared: “In the last few matches of U23 Vietnam at the U23 International – Dubai Cup 2022, the players have not scored, but that is not the final list with the best factors. . Therefore, the assessment of their scoring ability is not very comprehensive. I have also worked with assistants on overage players. They will support the ability to score. I also want to add that U23 Vietnam has been focused since April 7, but due to the National Cup competition, it was not until April 15 for U23 Vietnam to have full players. The team doesn’t have a lot of practice time, so I can’t give the best names or the final list.”
U23 Vietnam uses 3 players over 23 years old, including Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Tien Linh and Nguyen Hoang Duc. “Regarding the three overage players, we all know they are capable and tested. They are additional pieces for the weak positions of U23 Vietnam. In addition, these three players also have good chemistry, harmony, adaptability and they also have good qualities to help young players as well as the whole team.”
In the press conference, goalkeeper Nguyen Van Toan also said: “My physical strength and health have completely recovered. I’m ready for the next matches. Regarding tomorrow’s match, U20 Korea is a strong opponent. Through this match, we hope to gain confidence to prepare better for the upcoming matches.”
Speaking before the match, head coach Kim Eun Jung of U20 Korea said: “I am honored to participate in this match. It was even more fun when Korea U20 played against Vietnam U23 led by head coach Park Hang Seo. This is a good opportunity for both U23 Vietnam and U20 Korea. Hopefully U23 Vietnam will have a good preparation for the 2021 SEA Games through matches with us.”
