International Friendly: Vietnam U17 Women’s Team defeats Thailand U17 Women’s Team 2-1
On the afternoon of April 3rd, the international friendly match between Vietnam U17 Women’s Team and Thailand U17 Women’s Team took place at the People’s Police Academy stadium. The match was part of the activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand.

Attending the match were Mrs. Urawadi Sriphirom – the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam. From the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, there were: Senior General, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Văn Thành, former member of the Central Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and President of the Association; Mr. Nguyễn Viết Loan – Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Association; and Mr. Nguyễn Hữu Hồng – Vice Chairman of the Association. From the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), there were: Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn – Chairman of VFF and Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – General Secretary. From the Football Association of Thailand, there was Mrs. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) – President of the Federation. Also attending the match were the leadership of the People’s Police Academy.
Both teams called up their best lineups in preparation for the highly anticipated match. From the start, Vietnam U17 had a strong opening. Under the guidance of Coach Okiyama Masahiko, the players impressed with their performance, boosted by the support of the home crowd.
Meanwhile, Thailand U17 also showcased the resilience of a strong team in the region. They remained calm in defense and launched several impressive counterattacks. However, in the final finishing phase, the Thai strikers could not break through goalkeeper Trần Thị Cẩm My.
In the 35th minute, Vietnam U17 was awarded a free kick near the sideline and quite a distance from the goal. With great effort, Linh Chi took a powerful and precise shot that flew directly into the opponent’s net, giving Vietnam U17 the lead in the match.
In the second half, the home team continued to control the game, but a moment of lapse in concentration cost them. In the 54th minute, from a cross on the left wing, Thidawan Wangchin rose high to head the ball, equalizing the score 1-1 for Thailand U17. However, just one minute later, Yến Linh dribbled skillfully past two defenders before taking a beautiful shot that put Vietnam U17 back in the lead at 2-1.
In the following minutes, Thailand U17 played well and applied significant pressure, but Vietnam U17 remained resilient. Minh Ánh and her teammates successfully defended their slim lead, securing a 2-1 victory over Thailand U17.
