On the afternoon of September 5, the VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan met and encouraged the U23 Vietnam, before the kick-off day of the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 qualifier – Group C in Viet Tri (Phu Tho).

On behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, President Tran Quoc Tuan congratulated the players on completing the 2023 national professional football season at the club level, and emphasized that the players with the best performance received the trust of coach Philippe Troussier in the journey to participate in the 204 U23 Asian qualifiers, and also the 2024 Paris Olympic qualifiers.

Although the preparation for the Qualifiers is not long, but the U23 Vietnam is possessing a force with some players who have just played in the V.League, others have just won the 2023 U23 AFF Championship in Thailand. Therefore, the VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan expressed his belief that the U23 Vietnam will strive to achieve the goal of winning tickets to the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup in Qatar and meeting opponents in the top of the continent.

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan encouraged the whole team: “Once you have put on the jersey of the Vietnam team, let’s join hands together, for the pride of the country. If you can do that, you will improve your self-worth as well as have the conditions to contribute to the national team in the future… Let’s focus on playing and make the most of opportunities.”

VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized: “In order for Vietnam football to realize the dream of the World Cup, the U23 Vietnam must play well at the 2024 U23 Asian Cup, the first goal to conquer is the qualifier at home. If we don’t show our ability right from the youth football level, the journey towards the World Cup will be difficult.”

There are a total of 43 teams participating in the qualifying round of the 2024 U23 Asian Cup, divided into 11 groups (10 groups of 4 teams and 1 group of 3 teams), competing in a round robin to select the 11 best teams in each group and the 4 best runner-up teams in the groups with host Qatar to attend the finals taking place from April 15 to May 3, 2024. The results of this tournament are also counted for the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers, specifically: The top 3 teams at the 2024 U23 Asian Cup automatically have a slot in the Olympics, the losing team in the 3rd place match will play in the Play-off with another team in Africa to compete for the final ticket.
