Head coach Park Hang-seo: “U22 Vietnam had the most difficult match in the group stage”
VFF – At the press conference after the match, head coach Park Hang-seo thanked the efforts of the players in the situation that they were 2 goals down. He said that the match against Thailand U22 was the most difficult match of U22 Vietnam in the men’s SEA Games 30 group stage.
Head coach Park Hang-seo said: “Today, Vietnam had one more difficult game, maybe this match is the most difficult game at this group stage. However, at least, we had the draw and make the semi-final. Similar to the match with U22 Singapore, the first half today also very hard when Thailand had 2 goals first, but one more time, the players showed the competitive spirit, never give up in any situation”.
About the case of the first goal down, the head coach of U22 Vietnam admitted the mistake of goalkeeper Van Toan. However, Mr. Park did not blame his player and also did not want to comment on the performance of all players. “We will review the video and learn from the experience. The semifinal is coming so we should not talk about the individual mistake. Even had a mistake, today, I think Van Toan tried his best”. Mr. Park shared.
Explain about the decision to change the player when U22 Vietnam had the second chance to make a penalty, head coach Park Hang-seo said: “Tan Sinh was not successful in the first kick, I did not want him had more pressure, therefore I changed another player and chose Tien Linh”.
About the question related to the injury of captain Nguyen Quang Hai, Mr. Park argued that the rumors in media are not right. “He cannot play in the semi-final, but we are trying to help him recover and hope that Quang Hai will come back in the final game”. Head coach Park Hang-seo said.
With the draw 2-2 against U22 Thailand, U22 Vietnam finishes as the winner of group B. Hence, the team will have the semifinal with U22 Campuchia (runner-up of group A) on 7th Dec.
