AFC U20 WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

Qualifiers – Group B: Kyrgyz Republic 1-2 Hong Kong, China; Vietnam 5-0 Singapore

Hanoi: Vietnam cruised to 5-0 win over Singapore while a last-gasp goal secured Hong Kong, China a 2-1 victory against Kyrgyz Republic in their respective opening AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup™ Thailand 2026 Qualifiers Group B ties on Wednesday.

Vietnam went on the offensive from the opening whistle with Lamasan Chantale dropping an easy catch in the third minute, with the Singapore custodian spared blushes after Luu Hoang Van scuffed her shot.

Luu was more effective in the 15th minute, her mazy run causing havoc in the Singapore box with Nguyen Vinh Thuc Nghi taking advantage to sidefoot home the opener.

Vietnam could have taken a bigger lead into the break after Chantale handled a back pass in the 44th minute but Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh’s effort from the indirect free-kick was blocked by a line of Singapore players on the goal line.

Masahiko Okiyama’s Vietnam side stepped up a gear after the break, needing only three minutes to double their lead thanks to an individual effort from Y Za Luong, who finished crisply into the bottom corner.

Vietnam were now fully in their stride, adding the third in the 50th minute after Luu produced another storming run before setting up Nguyen Ngo Thao Nguyen for a simple finish.

A tired Singapore side did well to contain Vietnam after that but still conceded further goals late on with Nguyen Thi Thuong’s mishit cross in the 86th minute looping over Chantale before Ca Thi Phuong slammed home from close range two minutes later to seal an emphatic win.
