Phenikaa University Hospital Officially Joins VFF Medical Committee Network Membership
On May 26, at Phenikaa Hospital, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced Phenikaa University Hospital as a member of the VFF Medical Committee Network Membership programme, coordinated and developed by the VFF Medical Committee.
Attending the announcement ceremony on behalf of the VFF were: Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hoi – Standing Member of the VFF Executive Committee; Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Dung – Chief Executive Officer of the Vinmec Healthcare System and Head of the VFF Medical Committee; Mr. Nguyen Trong Hien – Member of the VFF Medical Committee; and Mr. Nguyen Van Phu – VFF General Secretary.
Representing Phenikaa University Hospital were: Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hoi – Chief Executive Officer; Dr. Do Van Loi – Director of the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Center; Dr. Le Anh Duc – Deputy Director of the Diagnostic Imaging and Functional Exploration Center; Dr. Tran Thanh Tung – Head of the General Surgery Department; and MSc. Dr. Nguyen Ba Son – Deputy Head of the General Surgery Department and specialist in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
Speaking at the ceremony, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu emphasized that expanding the VFF Medical Committee Network is one of the federation’s key strategic directions in gradually building an integrated medical support system, enhancing healthcare, treatment, and rehabilitation services for football players and athletes nationwide.
In the context of modern football, where increasing demands are placed on physical fitness, sports science, and recovery capacity, sports medicine extends beyond injury treatment and plays a vital role in risk prevention, comprehensive healthcare, and supporting athletes in improving their performance.
Having passed a rigorous professional evaluation process, Phenikaa University Hospital fully met the VFF’s criteria with its specialized and practically oriented medical departments, including Orthopedic Trauma Surgery, Internal Medicine – Cardiology – Respiratory Medicine, and Rehabilitation – Physiotherapy.
Through this network, the VFF and its healthcare partners aim to develop a comprehensive sports medicine model, shifting from an isolated injury-treatment approach to an integrated system covering emergency care, specialized consultation, treatment, post-competition rehabilitation, and injury recurrence prevention for athletes.
The professional team representing Phenikaa University Hospital within the network consists of well-trained doctors and technicians with extensive practical experience. Notable specialists include Prof. Dr. Cao Minh Chau, a leading expert in Rehabilitation Medicine, and MSc. Dr. Nguyen Ba Son, a specialist in Orthopedic Trauma and Sports Medicine.
With expertise ranging from arthroscopic surgery to sports medicine, Phenikaa University Hospital’s medical team will work closely with the VFF to develop personalized treatment and rehabilitation programmes aimed at helping athletes maximize their recovery, return to training early, and compete safely.
In addition to its highly qualified medical personnel, Phenikaa University Hospital has also invested comprehensively in modern diagnostic and treatment equipment, including 1.5 Tesla and 3.0 Tesla MRI systems, CT scanners integrated with PACS, as well as advanced rehabilitation technologies such as CPM machines, shockwave therapy, laser therapy, and superconducting magnetic therapy systems.
In line with the VFF’s strategic direction, the VFF Medical Committee Network will continue to expand in the coming years, with the goal of gradually developing a comprehensive, modern, and integrated healthcare system for players of Vietnam’s national teams and football clubs. Beyond injury treatment, the programme also focuses on preventive care, long-term health monitoring, rehabilitation, sports nutrition, and enhancing football medicine expertise in a professional and sustainable manner.
