Prior to the closing ceremony, participants continued their discussions on the process of identifying and assessing talented players in both the men’s and women’s game. The participants were divided into different groups to analyse and evaluate various factors, before presenting detailed criteria for the identification and selection of promising players.

Notably, the workshop also dedicated a session to discussing the player selection process in women’s football, as well as the current status and development of women’s football in Vietnam.

According to expert Doan Minh Xuong, there are currently five units operating women’s football teams, with a total of around 500 players. Meanwhile, Mr. Dao Huy Hung, who oversees women’s football in Ho Chi Minh City, highlighted a number of challenges facing the women’s game, including limitations in facilities and difficulties in identifying and recruiting female players.

After listening to the participants’ feedback, FIFA expert Eric Abrams stated that he would review and evaluate the discussions before making recommendations to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), with the aim of helping establish more effective approaches to identifying, assessing and selecting talented players for Vietnamese football.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on behalf of the participants, former striker Luu Ngoc Mai expressed gratitude to the VFF for its support and for providing the best possible conditions for the participants to gain access to international talent identification and selection methodologies. She also thanked expert Eric Abrams for sharing valuable knowledge and insights, describing the workshop as a major source of motivation for the participants in their future coaching careers.

As the lead instructor throughout the three-day workshop, FIFA expert Eric Abrams expressed his appreciation to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for providing him with the opportunity to share his knowledge and experience. The FIFA expert said that he had enjoyed excellent interactions and valuable experiences with the participants over the past two and a half days.

Drawing on the knowledge exchanged and the experiences gained during the workshop, Eric Abrams expressed his hope that all stakeholders would continue working together on a long-term journey to identify and develop young football talents in Vietnam.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Vice President Tran Anh Tu expressed his appreciation for FIFA’s initiative in organizing the workshop, which was held over three days in Hanoi and another three days in Ho Chi Minh City. He noted that the programme had enabled a large number of Vietnamese coaches to gain access to valuable knowledge and modern talent identification methodologies, which is highly encouraging for those involved in the development of Vietnamese football.

Vice President Tran Anh Tu expressed his hope that the knowledge and experience shared by FIFA expert Eric Abrams would be of great benefit to the participants in their coaching careers.

He also stated his belief that the coaches would soon have opportunities to apply what they had learned in the process of scouting and selecting young players, as clubs have recently concluded their seasons and are preparing to begin youth recruitment programmes in the coming period.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, all participants were presented with certificates of attendance for successfully completing the workshop.
