Reporter: President Nguyen Trong Hy, how about your feeling after being reelected?

President Nguyen Trong Hy: Firstly, I appreciate that the Congress was a great success. Thanks to the members of Executive Committee Term V and the organisation members, who importantly contributed to make this successful. I realise that Vietnamse football is facing a transformation period in terms of model, operation and direction. If it doesn’t have the intellectual contributions of organisation members, it will be difficult to reach the common goals.

I thought a lot before the Congress. We have to create a turning point in mechanism, in order to integrate with international organisations while still ensuring the rationale of Vietnamese social conditions. And when the 6th VFF Congress took place well, my feelings were so difficult to describe. It can be a psychological relief. The difficult problem has been solved and now, Vietnamese football can overcome the problems of mechanisms, policies to integrate completely. My personal orientation is very much. I have a lot of big plans for the next term. The mentality is relaxed, the mechanism is opened, I now can devote the best of myself for football. I think that it has to catch the opportunities to create a breakthrough for football, unless, it will be the big defect with fans.

Can you divulge your plans in the near future?

– Youth football training centre was opened thanks to the enthusiasm of football’s people as well as the special attention of the leaders of the Party, State and Hanoi People’s Committee. Now, we have had a place to make our dreams come true. In addition to organising youth football training, all teams can practice in the centre during each training session in the future. We also conduct coaching, arbitration training and conduct a series of activities in this “big house”. Besides, I also have an ambition in building a football television channel. Currently, it has a partner who has raised the issue of negotiating with VFF. Additionally, VFF is in the process of negotiating with a foreign company in utilising the image of National Team as well as VFF.

– What made you most satisfied in the last term?

– I started term V with a lot of difficulties. Firstly, it was the unfinished business between the State and the Federation. I always give my best whenever I work for, and when joining VFF, I think I have to create something. Though, society and experts put very little faith at first. A lot of people don’t believe that I can be successful. They said that I have a basketball background and don’t have football expertise. I claim that I am not a football-er, but I have management ability. I work methodically and patiently. The fact that in VFF, it has some professionals only. But I think that the professionals should be in the Clubs. The problem is creating an open mechanism and policy and offering the football experience for them to grow up. I always try my best and have a lot of confidence. When I feel right, I will go to the end. Basically, in term V, I fulfilled the mission of a VFF President. However, I still have lots of ambitions with national football, so I decide to dedicate one more term.
