The two Football Federations agree to continue implementing the FFAV project based on the results of cooperation in the field of community football development in the 2018-2022 period. Accordingly, VFF and NFF will share the same values and principles in ensuring a safe, inspiring environment for children and young people, without discrimination of any kind, and participation based on needs, not skills.

The project “Football For All in Vietnam” is no stranger to people interested in grassroots football in Vietnam. The NFF and the VFF initiated the project “Football For All in Vietnam” (FFAV) in 2001. The project was established in the spirit of cooperation and friendship, helping the non-competitive grassroots football activities for children and youth at schools and social protection centers. Accordingly, each school is a club; each club organizes itself, selecting students who love football of all ages. In addition to playing football, the children also practice life skills.

FFAV started in Hanoi in 2001, and in 2003 the project was implemented in Thua Thien-Hue province and flourished there. From 2003 to 2018, the FFAV project formed 216 boys and girls football clubs throughout Thua Thien Hue province, with the participation of more than 19,000 primary and secondary school students (50% of them are female students). The conference on summarizing and transferring the project for the period 2003 – 2018 taking place in Hue city marked the success of a solid model of community football in schools with the target “Counting smiles instead of count the goals”.

In 2015, the FFAV model in Thua Thien Hue province was selected by the Vietnam Football Federation and the Ministry of Education and Training to be replicated throughout the country based on the “Vietnam Football Development Strategy to 2020, with a vision to 2030”. From 2015 to now, NFF and VFF have cooperated with related partners to develop the FFAV model for more than 15 provinces and cities across the country, with more than 355 football clubs and 28,920 players; Annual activities provide opportunities for participation for 506,499 students. In 2014 and 2015, more than 30 female players from the FFAV project were selected to participate in the national U14 Women’s team.

FFAV has been awarded Medals and Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Vietnam Football Federation, the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations,… for the contribution to the development of grassroots in Vietnam. In particular, in 2014 and 2017, the FFAV project was honored to be awarded the “Golden Award – Asian Dream” by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) with the title of being the best grassroots football NGO in Asia.
