VFF continues to host the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2nd Qualifier (Group A)
The VFF has just been approved by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to continue hosting matches in 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2nd Qualifier (Group A). Before that, the VFF had successfully organized group F in the first qualifying round, at Viet Tri (Phu Tho) last March.
According to the results of the qualifying round 2 draw announced on March 23, the Vietnam U20 women’s team is in Group A with rivals Australia, Iran and Lebanon, while Group B includes China, Myanmar, Nepal and Chinese Taipei.
In the second qualifying round, the teams will compete in a round robin. The top two teams in each group along with the top three teams from last season including Japan, South Korea, North Korea and host Uzbekistan will compete in the final round, taking place next year.
The second qualifying round is scheduled to be held from June 3 to June 11. With the success in organizing matches in the first qualifying round, Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) will continue to be the venue for the matches of Group A.
Before that, assessing the opponents in the second qualifying round, the head coach of the U20 Vietnam women’s national team Akira Ijiri said: “I think we have entered a group of very strong teams. To win, we must be determined. The coaching staff will plan to improve and build a solid defense, switch quickly and improve the ability to score, learn from the first qualifying round.”
According to the schedule, the Vietnam women’s U20 team will meet Iran and Lebanon in turn before facing the Australian women’s U20 team in the final match.
