At the 9th Congress of Vietnam Football Associations (term of 2022 – 2026), 100% of the delegates present (73/74 member organizations attending the Congress) voted Mr. Tran Anh Tu to be the Vice President in charge of Technical Affairs. The new Vice President Tran Anh Tu shared: “I am both happy and worried when I assume the role of Vice President in charge of the technical affair in a new term. I’m also a bit stressed because of the achievements of the previous term. Vietnamese football has never achieved such great success before. This is a big challenge not only for me but also for the Executive Committee.”

Mr. Tran Anh Tu added: “With the experience of the VFF President – Tran Quoc Tuan and the consensus of the Executive Committee, I hope the VFF can strive to achieve the goals set out by the new congress. The goal of the Vietnamese football in the next term is to maintain and promote the achievements compared to the previous term. We saw the Vietnamese men’s team qualified to the final qualifying round of the World Cup, the women’s and futsal teams qualified to the World Cup, the young teams winning tickets to the Asian tournament. So, at least for the next 4 years, the teams must also achieve the same or higher achievements. Of course to do that will be extremely difficult.”

Mr. Tran Anh Tu continued: “Finding a new coach for Vietnam is not easy. The new coach must adapt the Vietnamese culture, the players and the financial situation of VFF. With the current financial capacity of VFF, I believe we can afford to the goals of Vietnamese football. Of course, we have to spend and calculate.”

Mr. Tran Anh Tu summaried: “In the past, selling the V.League copyright was not an easy thing. However, in this day and age, things have become more favorable. Regarding VAR, VPF wanted to deploy it soon. But the previous financial situation was not enough. When working with FIFA, they went and worked with the VPF, but the ratification step could not be due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic. When restarting the project, things were more favorable.”
