The delegation of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong, China visited VFF

On the morning of June 13, at the headquarters of VFF, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President welcomed Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung – Chairman of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong, China. Attending the meeting were representatives from departments, functional units under the Bureau, and the General Secretariat of the Vietnam Football Federation.

During the working session, Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung – Chairman of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong, China expressed his desire to enhance cooperation in the field of football with the Vietnam Football Federation and highly appreciated the infrastructure at the Vietnamese Youth Football Training Center. Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung shared that currently, football in Hong Kong (China) is focusing on youth training and women’s football.

In fact, Vietnam and Hong Kong (China) have had cooperation and exchanges in football in recent years. Specifically, from 2016 to 2018, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) welcomed the U15 and U18 women’s teams and the U17 men’s team from Hong Kong, China; in 2023, the Hong Kong women’s national team had two training sessions there. Also in 2023, the Hong Kong men’s national team visited Vietnam to play friendly matches with the Vietnam men’s national team in Hai Phong.

On behalf of the Standing Committee, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – VFF’s President, warmly welcomed the delegation from the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong (China), led by Mr. Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung – Chairman, who took the time to visit the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation. He expressed gratitude for their visit and working session in Vietnam with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Vietnam.

Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of the Vietnam Football Federation, stated that the Vietnam Football Federation aims to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with football in Hong Kong (China), to jointly promote the development of football. Since 2014, the Vietnam Football Federation has focused on investing in youth football and expanding international cooperation, sending youth teams for training and participating in international friendly tournaments to compete against teams at different levels, laying the groundwork for achievements in recent years. From 2016 to now, Vietnam’s youth teams have consistently qualified for the final rounds of various Asian youth tournaments, competing against high-level teams such as Japan, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. The women’s national team and futsal team have also qualified for FIFA World Cups (the women’s team for the first time in history for the 2023 Women’s World Cup; the men’s futsal team for the World Cups in 2016 and 2021).
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan shared that alongside state investment, the Vietnam Football Federation has been actively mobilizing social resources to improve the infrastructure of the Youth Football Training Center to better serve football, including the national teams of Vietnam. In Southeast Asia, the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center is recognized as one of the places with modern infrastructure, effectively serving top-level football.
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized that sustainable development requires enhancing exchange and cooperation. Therefore, he hopes that based on this foundation, both sides will continue to collaborate more effectively to promote the development of football in particular, and sports in Vietnam and Hong Kong, China in general.

Mr. Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung – Chairman of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Hong Kong, China, stated that he would work with the leadership of the Football Association of Hong Kong, China to enhance cooperation with the Vietnam Football Federation to promote the development of football.

On this occasion, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of the Vietnam Football Federation, presented a Vietnamese national team jersey to Mr. Mr. YEUNG Yun Hung – Head of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hong Kong, China.
