Vietnam were held a goal-less draw in a friendly football match with Singapore at My Dinh National stadium in Hanoi. Although it was a friendly match, both teams started the game with their best formation, expressing strong winning determination.

Goalkeeper Duong Hong Son had a good performance

In the first minutes, the guests took advantage of their better physical strength by making repeatedly attacks from two wings, passing the ball high into the penalty area, while the Vietnamese players actively put up a good defence to counter the guests attacks.

In the 30th minute, Mohd headed the ball to stun Vietnamese goalkeeper but no goal was made for the visitors. Singapore continued to have chance in the 35th minute but failed to open the scoring as they confronted a Vietnamese defender’s timely interference.

Three minutes later, the hosts responded with a strong shot by Minh Chau after having received the ball from the right wing but he could not win the guests’ goalkeeper.

Striker Bao Khanh yet found sense of scoring

In the first minutes of the second half, Singapore still maintained their control after changing five positions. The Vietnamese gradually regained their confidence and launched waves of attacks onto the guests’ net. In the 78th minute, Minh Phuong took a dangerous corner but once again, none of his teammates could reach the ball. Vietnam after that had a few chances but the balance could still not be broken.

No goal was scored till the end of the match.

Holding a draw with Southeast Asian defending champion is not a bad result for the hosts. Vietnamese coach Calisto felt quite satisfied with his students’ performance. In comparison with the Ho Chi Minh City International Football Tournament, Vietnamese players this time showed their progress in both spirit and way of playing.
