Football Federation Australia (FFA) will implement the AFC”s system for granting coaching licences from January next year.

FFA”s National Manager for Coach Education Kelly Cross and the AFC”s Coach Education department decided on Wednesday to merge the two systems after a meeting here at the AFC House.

Hassan Al Sabah, AFC”s Director for Coach Education, said the national licences issued by the FFA till December 2006 would be treated as AFC A” licences while the FFA”s state licences would be on par with the AFC”s B” licences.

SWe respect the programmes conducted by the FFA in the past but as the newest AFC member they will have to implement our system from next year onwards,⬝ Al Sabah told www.the-afc.com.

SIt was also agreed that the FFA”s minor courses would be used as an introduction to the AFC”s C” licence course,⬝ added Al Sabah.

AFC instructors will conduct the courses initially, assisted by their Australian counterparts.

SWe have discussed everything and the FFA is keen to adopt the AFC”s practices,⬝ said Cross, who is also attending the AFC U-14 Festival of Football to get acquainted with the parent body”s Grassroots and Youth football programme.
