Opening Ceremony of the FIFA Project Referee Training Program for Women’s Football Development
On the afternoon of May 7, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation, the opening ceremony of the Referee Training Program under the FIFA Women’s Football Development Project was held with the participation of VFF leaders, the Referees Committee, and referees and assistant referees.
Attending the opening ceremony were Tran Anh Tu, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation; Dang Thanh Ha, Chairman of the VFF Arbitriation Committee; Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of the VFF; Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy General Secretary of the VFF; along with 22 referees and assistant referees participating in the training program.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Van Phu, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation, extended a warm welcome on behalf of the VFF to all delegates, instructors, referees, and assistant referees attending the program.
General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu emphasized that this was a practical professional activity aimed at further improving the quality of refereeing, meeting the increasing demands of the development of women’s football in Vietnam in the new phase. At the same time, the program also provides an opportunity for referees to update their professional knowledge, enhance the exchange of practical experience, and strengthen consistency in officiating football competitions.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the VFF Executive Board, Tran Anh Tu highly appreciated the significance of the training program being held ahead of the 2026 National Women’s Football Cup, noting that it would help referees update their knowledge, strengthen their professional confidence, and enhance consistency in match officiating.
Vice President Tran Anh Tu encouraged all referees attending the course to uphold a strong sense of responsibility, study seriously, actively exchange practical experience, and proactively absorb new knowledge in order to further improve their expertise and professionalism in officiating.
The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation also acknowledged and highly appreciated the close coordination of the VFF Arbitration Committee and relevant professional departments in organizing the program, while expressing sincere gratitude to FIFA for supporting the project and facilitating this meaningful training program.
The development of women’s football has always been one of the key priorities in the overall development strategy of Vietnamese football being implemented by the Vietnam Football Federation. In particular, building a high-quality refereeing force that meets professional standards and gradually approaches international standards plays an important role in enhancing the image and reputation of Vietnamese women’s football at regional and international competitions.
According to the schedule, the training program will take place from May 7 to May 11 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. With thorough preparation and a serious working spirit, the program is expected to deliver practical results, contributing to improving the quality of refereeing in service of the 2026 National Women’s Football Cup and future competitions.
