At the 2025 Annual Congress of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), held on the morning of December 26 at the VFF headquarters, Mrs. Gayathry Chandra Mohan, FIFA Director of Member Associations Development, shared positive remarks and highly praised the strong development of Vietnamese football in recent years.

Attending the 2025 Annual Congress of the Vietnam Football Federation, Mr. Winston Lee, Secretary General of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), shared his views and extended his congratulations to Vietnamese football on a highly successful year of competition.

On December 25, the 11th Executive Committee Meeting of the 9th term (2022–2026) of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) was held at the VFF headquarters. The meeting reviewed the results of activities in 2025 and outlined the key tasks for 2026, while also discussing and reaching consensus on a number of important matters in preparation for the 2025 VFF Annual Congress, scheduled to take place on December 26, 2025.

The decision was made based on a high level of consensus between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Coach Mai Đức Chung, stemming from the practical need for stability, continuity and succession in the coaching work—especially as the Vietnam women’s national team prepare to compete in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Finals, scheduled to take place in early March 2026 (with the results of the 2026 Women’s Asian Cup serving as the Asian qualification criteria for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup).

Ahead of the New Year 2026, FIFA President Gianni Infantino sent a congratulatory letter to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). In the letter, President Gianni Infantino expressed his sincere appreciation for the valuable support and cooperation of the VFF throughout 2025, a year marked by groundbreaking events, including the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening National Team football across the Continent with plans to introduce an AFC Nations League in the coming period, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance development opportunities for its Member Associations (MAs) and establish a more structured and sustainable international match framework.

On the afternoon of December 20, at Binh Phuoc Stadium (Binh Phuoc Ward, Dong Nai Province), the 9th Vietnam Former Footballers Festival 2025 took place in a vibrant and warm atmosphere. The session was conducted by Japanese sports nutrition expert Tsuyuzaki Noriko and Master of Sports Nutrition Trâm Anh. During the ongoing meetings of the FIFA functional committees in Doha, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Trần Quốc Tuấn — member of the FIFA National Teams Competition Committee for the 2025-2029 term, and Standing Member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), along with VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú — member of the AFC and FIFA Medical Committee, had discussions with leaders of the Football Federation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Uzbekistan Football Federation, aiming to lay the foundation for future cooperation directions.
